Showdown At High Noon Satellite Vs Cable

For years cable service was the only show in town and their only competition was standard TV programmers and movie rental franchises, so they really didn’t have any real competition so to speak of. Cable service providers let a golden era pass them by, when they could have developed their products and services into something that is vastly superior to what they have to offer now.

Cable companies charge for everything, including installation and this has gone on for years and years. All their record profits that they have reaped, they have squandered on things such as excessive and overblown bonuses and salaries for their corporate officers.

The launch of satellite TV programming caught cable service providers completely asleep at the wheel. When satellite service began with the first satellite, cable companies were some of loudest skeptics as to whether the new space age technology would even work and be economically viable. So the cable companies took notice, but didn’t really wake up until it was too late.

Satellite service was somewhat of a gamble in the beginning and it has paid of immensely for the TV programming consumer and cable service customers have been jumping ship and coming over to satellite programming by the millions in recent years and who can blame them. It really is too late for cable service providers and their boom times have turned bust.

The two top satellite service providers are Dish Network and DirecTV and no cable company comes close to what they provide to their customers in the way of programming and services. While Cable Company’s infrastructure slowly decays, Dish Network has launched Mobile Dish. Mobile Dish is a new, state of the art method of mobile satellite service for RVs and other vehicles. It delivers one-hundred channels of satellite programming while a vehicle is traveling down the highway.

Dish Network also provides free Sirius satellite radio for your home and vehicle now. These are two things that cable service doesn’t even have the capacity for. DirecTV is the all time leader in sports programming with a full twenty-five channels of any and all kinds of sports. They even have exclusive rights to some sports channels that no other programming service providers have.

These are all things that cable service providers could have done years ago but chose not to. Cable service providers now and always have charged their customers for installation of their cables and hardware while both of the top satellite service providers do free installation. Cable companies rely on customers who signed up years ago and stay with cable service out of habit.

When everything is put on the table for comparison there is simply no reason why any sensible person should choose cable over satellite programming with all the channels and services that satellite carries and at better prices too. Both Dish Network and DirecTV have excellent programming packages and while DirecTV specializes in sports programming, Dish network specializes in movie programming. So it seems that in the showdown at high noon, satellite service has shot cable service down.
