    <title>The Lto-1 Ultrium Backup Tape Media Cartridge</title>
    <description>The LTO ( Linear Tape Open ) tapes came in two forms Accelis and Ultrium. The Accelis is 8 mm tape, dual reel cartridge. It was actually developed in 1997, and the purpose was the fast access to data, that loads at the midpoint of the tape to minimize access time. IBM were the pioneer in this tape format by introducing (short-lived) 3570 Magstar MP product. The real-world performance of Accelis does not exceed that of Ultrium tape format.  Ultrium is 12&quot; tape, single reel cartridge. In the mid 1980s, DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation) and IBM (International Business Machines) converted this kind of tape into a single reel, enclosed cartridge. IBM named their cartridge 3480. LTO Ultrium was developed as a replacement for DLT(Digital Linear Tape). This development made possible for robotic tape library vendors to convert their DLT libraries into LTO. The Ultrium drive reads data from a cartridge in its own generation and at least the two prior generations, and writes data to a cartridge in its own genera tion and to a cartridge from the immediate prior generation in the prior generation format.  LTO tape products and versions are: LTO 1, LTO 2, LTO 3, LTO 4, LTO Barcode Labels, LTO Cartridge Memory Reader, LTO Cleaning Cartridge and LTO Empty Cases. LTO 5 and LTO 6 under development and will be available in future.     <title>Removing Dried Ink From Your Cartridge Head</title>
    <description>Companies from Hewlett Packard (HP) to Epson to Canon and many others have all now come out with what is known as recycled cartridges. These recycled inkjet cartridges are essentially the types of cartridge that you can either refill yourself at home or alternatively cartridges that you can send in to companies like Hewlett-Packard for them to refill themselves. Hewlett-Packard inkjet cartridges nowadays for example are usually going to be refillable simply because the cost of HP inkjet cartridges has gone up so much that it really is not worth buying a new cartridge each time the printer inks run out. One of the problems that people sometimes run into when they have printer cartridges that are very old and have been refilled a number of times is a problem related to dried ink clogging the cartridge up. This has two negative effects on the print job as a whole. The first negative effect that it has is to obviously clog the cartridges up so that the ink that is coming out does not get distributed in an even fashion across the page and what eventually happens there is streaking and uneven sections of ink density on the printed page. The second negative effect is that if the dried ink is dried in clumps along the bottom of the cartridge head, then what you are going to see is that it might even cause small rips in the paper because of the friction caused by the contract between the ink and the page itself.</description>

    <title>Ink Cartridge Capacity</title>
    <description>Perhaps one of the most important questions and one of the most frequent questions asked in the world today relates to ink cartridges and the capacity that they have. People want to know for reasons related to toner refill products and replacement cartridge purchases how many pages their ink cartridge will print. While this is certainly a question that is worth discussing, unfortunately there is no real answer when it comes to putting down an exact number on paper as to the capacity of a specific printer cartridge. Why is there no answer? Well, this is primarily because the different manufacturers have different ink levels in different cartridges. Taking an average value of pages that were printed by the different cartridges would be a useless average because it would be possible for there to be a huge deviation from the average value for a number of different cartridges. For example, if ten cartridges printed a thousand pages each and ten printed a hundred pages each, the average amount would be 550 pages per cartridge; a value that corresponds to none of the cartridges that were looked at.</description>
