Healthy Eating Guidelines - Why Vitamins?

Vitamins are something we must have in our diet if we are to follow healthy eating guidelines but do we actually know what those all important vitamins do? Do we know why we should eat some daily and some less often? The main reason for that is that some vitamins are soluble in water and some in fat. Those which are water soluble such as Vitamins B and C need to be eaten daily because the body finds it very difficult to story them in the body. The fat soluble vitamins such as A, D, E and K are stored in the liver so you dont need to have them daily, once or twice a week is adequate in most cases. Knowing how often you should eat them is one thing, but what is their actual function. Vitamin A is essential for normal growth, good vision, a healthy skin and is part of the requirements for renewing the body tissues. It is manufactured in the body from carotene which is in all those green leafy vegetables we know are part of a healthy diet, as well as in yellow and red vegetables. Retinol, which is found in eggs butter and liver amongst other foods also contains a very pure form of Vitamin A which has been manufactured in the body of the animal from which it came.

If You Must Fry - Do It The Healthy Way

We all know that fried food is not particularly good for us, but that doesnt stop us craving the occasional crispy, crunchy golden brown something or other. Because frying means food comes into contact with hot fat all the flavour and nutrients are sealed in which makes it tasty. In moderation it isnt the worst thing in the world, especially if you follow a few simple healthy eating guidelines to make sure that it doesnt carry too much fat into your system. First of all you should choose the oil you are going to use with care. Hard fats such as lard, margarine and butter are not good as they are high in saturated fats, as are many blended vegetable oils which contain coconut or palm oil. For best results it is advisable to use pure vegetable oils sunflower, corn and safflower are good. Olive oil is a beneficial and nutritious oil but does not survive high temperatures so it is not good to use for very hot frying. Smoking temperature is important when frying, if the oil has a slight blue smoke or haze rising from it then it is too hot and will begin to break down which makes it indigestible. Sunflower and Corn Oil have the highest smoking temperature, and are probably the best to use unless you have a particular reason to use anything else.

Healthy Mexican Food

Mexican cuisine is a style of food that began in Mexico, and is widely known for its vibrant flavor and amazing decoration. Rice, beans, tortillas, and a wide variety of spices are commonly used in many Mexican dishes, along with beef, pork, chicken, and a range of different peppers. Mexican recipes vary from region to region, but many of the same original ideas are still seen all over the globe today. Mexican cuisine is typically cooked in large amounts of grease and fat, making it one of the most fattening styles of food in the world. Although authentic Mexican food can be unhealthy, there are many great recipes available for healthy Mexican meals. One ingredient that can easily be replaced is grease, which is usually a staple when making dishes prepared with tortillas. Many Mexican recipes involve frying tortillas, such as taquitos, tacos, and even tostadas. While the fried tortillas are usually the main portion of the dish, using oil to prepare them adds unhealthy fat and caloric intake. One alternative would be using soft tortillas, such as making soft tacos rather than frying the tortillas. There are also several recipes that involve tortillas without being fried, such as quesadillas or baked tortilla chips.

Juice Fast For A Healthy Self

A balanced diet forms one of the top priorities for all those who want to stay fit and healthy. A diet plan rich in fruit juices is not only healthy but also helps one to stay in shape. A detox diet is perhaps one of the most effective diet plans that have a range of benefits associated with it. This dietary regimen involves a change in the consumption pattern of the person who follows the detoxification process. The manifold benefits include weight loss, better health, more energy, stronger immune system and better digestion. Detox diets plans are rich in fruits. Fruit juice fasting is a popular detox diet regime. However the term juice fast does not imply that one has to stay without food or water. In this case, the diet comprises mainly of fruit juices. Since it is easy to digest fruit juices, the digestive organs get some time to rest and work optimally after a period of time. A person on a juice fast can have fruit juices as and when required. Some of you might wonder whether little in take of solid foods might make a person weak during juice fasting. Juice fasting perhaps improves the energy level of a person. The process of digestion consumes approximately 25 to 30 of the bodys entire energy. Since fruit juices are easier to digest, it leads to less energy being utilized. In turn, this enhances a persons mental state and facilitates creative and productive thinking. One should also consider the duration of a juice fasting program. A person can juice fast four to five days a month or can follow the regime just once a week. Since juice fasting is considered a healing solution, many people continue it for a month or two to get relief from pain, depression, arthritis, autoimmune diseases and other infections as well. For instance, orange juice is rich in vitamin C and prune juice improves digestion. A juice fasting plan can never be complete without watermelon juice, which is rich in vitamin C, A, B6, B1, magnesium and potassium. Its low calorie count makes it a must have.

Healthy eating starts with careful planning and organization. Since fresh produce has a very limited shelf life, regular grocery shopping is a must.
Fiber Dense Food: Enjoy Living A Healthy Lifestyle

Fiber dense foods are widely available today and recommended by most health experts for a better and more desirable lifestyle. It is essential that you maintain a healthy lifestyle to enjoy your later years and evade any health problems that may be on the horizon in the future. Prevention is better than cure and fiber dense foods can certainly contribute to your active prevention plans. Too many people eat junk food and expect to burn it off. Even if you are adept at losing weight, a burger or chocolate bar will not help you to pass waste through your system. Indeed, they often make up a percentage of the waste that will clog your system in the first place. The digestive system needs an injection of fiber dense foods in order to work properly. You should get a good dose every day because it helps to remove waste from the body via your system more quickly and effectively. Without fiber, you system would soon become blocked because it would not be able to eliminate waste. With fiber dense foods, the nutrients will be absorbed into the body but the excess products can be excreted properly. For more info see http:www.i-highfiberdiet.com on Fiber Diet.
