Students Cheat On Their Homework

During the last years, many studies have been conducted to find out if students are cheating or not. The answers researchers found were staggering, almost 90 of the students that participated in these studies, recognized that they cheat on their homework. More than that, up to two thirds of them admitted that they cheat on tests. Adults always seem surprised to find out that students cheat, especially in high-socio-economic and high-achieving environments. These studies come as a reality fact for these adults that cant realize once and for all that students cheat and it is highly probable that their children practice this sport . The above mentioned figures are applicable also for college students. It is a certainty that these numbers have gone up over the last three decades. The big question is: why? Do high school and college students understand that what they are doing is totally wrong and immoral? The answer is rather confusing: yes and no. To be more exact, many students recognized that cheat ing is wrong but they keep practicing it with no remorse, other students affirmed that they dont consider cheating a bad habit and they will keep practicing it without thinking that doing this is totally wrong and harmful. One of the students that cheat said: Like people have morals, they don't always go by them. ... So I mean, even if you get that test and you're like, "Oh yeah, I cheated on this test," it doesn't lessen that grade. It says an A on the paper and you don't go, "Oh, but I cheated." You're just kind of like, "Hey, I got that A." So it doesn't really matter necessarily, if it has to do with your morals or anything, you just kind of do it. There are many other similar statements made by other high school students and especially college students because the pressure for grades is real in college life. Even A students cheat if they have a testhomework at which they didnt prepare that well. Despite the pressure of getting a good grade, students dont cheat in all of their classes.
Distance Learning Maximizes College Students Time

Online education is one of the perks that technology has sent our way. When thinking of the average college student, we most commonly envision a young, just out of high school student going away to college, living in a dormitory and, possibly, joining a sorority or a fraternity. However, the identity of the college student is expanding to include a variety of personas. Maybe you think of a single mother working forty plus hours a week, taking care of her kids and still managing to find time to enroll in an evening class. Perhaps you think of a mid-range business professional taking continuing education courses in order to complete a second degree or achieve a higher level of certification. The average college student doesnt have one identity any more, particularly with the advances of distance learning. The truth is that you can actually pursue an associates, bachelors, masters degree, rank change or certification through online education. You can conduct every aspect of earning your degree right from your home computer. The inquiries, application process, registration process and your entire classroom are all part of a distance education program. You can still work those forty plus hours while maintaining all your leisure and family commitments. Online education truly allows you to maximize your time and explore You do not have to sacrifice helping your kids with their homework, eating dinner as a family or enjoying your favorite book before bed any longer.

Minneapolis Public Schools Lose Students To Charter Schools

Students are Fleeing Minneapolis Schools Minneapolis schools are being faced with the prospect of empty school buildings as more and more students flee the system to charter schools in the district. Minneapolis schools enrollment figures have plummeted to just 36,000 this year - thats almost half its capacity of 50,000 students. Schools in the north side have felt the pinch the hardest with a 44 percent drop in enrollment over the past five years. All indications are that there is no stemming this tide and Minneapolis schools have already announced plans to close 5 schools leaving more than 2000 students in the lurch, desperately scrambling to find new schools.

Interactive Language Learning For Advanced Students

If you have ever taken the time to research language courses on the Internet, you know that there is abundant material for the beginner and even a rather good selection for the intermediate student of a foreign language. Yet when it comes to quality materials for the advanced language learner, the shelves are conspicuously bare. While there are a number of books with grammatical conundrums as well as extensive vocabulary learning lists, the resources that rely on native foreign language speakers to advance the students knowledge in her or his target language are few and far between. EuroTalk (www.eurotalk.ie) has found a way to successfully fill this void with their easy to recognize native speaker interactive approach which combines fun with learning! Whether you are a student, business traveler, or just want to get ready for your next holiday, the advanced Movie Talk methodology is for you!

Should San Diego Schools Students Pray?

The San Diego Schools were put in the national spotlight this past July when it was revealed that Carver Elementary Schools was allowing Muslim students a 15 minute timeframe to pray. Carver has recently acquired about 100 Muslim students from a San Diego Schools charter school that closed. Even so, this revelation created uproar on the ever popular subject of prayer in school. There are a few schools of thought on this subject. One camp feels that religion shouldnt have any place in federally funded education of San Diego Schools. Another side feels that you can allow prayer in school, but it needs to be an equal time scenario. The problem with the San Diego School District trying to account for equal time is part of the problem. Its a part of the Muslim religion to pray at specific times each day. Unfortunately for some, those times coincide with the San Diego Schools class schedule. On one hand, Carver elementary was being aware of the fact that its population had shifted significantly, and they were trying to be respectful of those students religious beliefs. But is it right or fair for the schools day to come to a complete halt to accommodate the needs of a specific religious group?

Three Kinds Of Martial Art Students

There are three kinds of students: the superior student, the average student, and the inferior student. The superior student has admirable qualities. He trusts his instructors implicitly and follows whatever instructions are given him without complaint or debate. He understands that his instructors were once students, too. He understands that his instructors only have his welfare in mind when they teach him. The superior student is pliable, honest, sincere, respectful, and has a zest to learn. He understands that mastery in the martial arts, or in any endeavor, does not happen over night. He knows that it often takes a long time to achieve proficiency and, understanding that, he is more than willing to make that noble commitment. The superior student practices diligently at home and looks forward with joy to each and every class. Further, he learns from the mistakes committed by others and avoids perpetrating those same mistakes himself. When he does make a mistake, he understands that it is a natural part o f the learning process and does not become sullen or angry when receiving correction. The superior student is worthy of both respect and admiration of his instructors.

Money Saving Tips For College Students

College students always have to be frugal, as they may be on scholarships. Many of them will have student loans and will also be working part time, to cover their expenses. There are many ways that college students can save money. The first and most important thing they will need is textbooks. The easiest way to save money is to buy used text books. These books can be gotten from the previous set of students, as they are sure to have them. If not, a student could also borrow from their friends, if they are not using it. There are other ways to find the used textbooks too. They can be found online and students should make use of this facility. The schools will also have the required books, and there will be advertisements.

Starting school year 2007-2008 all students of Nashville Schools will have to wear standard attire. As one can imagine, the move was not made without protest, but the school board is determined that this will be the directive for all metropolitan Nashville Schools for the foreseeable future. Standard attire is not school uniform. Although the two are often confused, standard attire does not constitute a uniform. Instead the standardization outlines kinds and colors of clothes to be worn by students in Metro Nashville Public Schools. The district will not provide the clothes nor tell parents which specific items or brands to buy.

Some Long Island Schools Students Just Want To Go To Work

All parents have big dreams for their children. Fame, fortune, happiness, security, love, confidence, success, and a good education- to name a few. Parents of Long Island Schools students have dreams like these, too. A lot of these kids are told as they grow up that college is what you do after high school, end of discussion. Of course, most if not all parents would like to see their kids head off to college. But lets look at the big picture; not all graduating seniors want to head off to a 2- or 4-year college. They are anxious to enter the workforce, earn a paycheck, and are heartily sick of homework. Students attending Long Island Schools represent both goals both college bound and work bound but only one of these groups is truly getting the education they need to achieve their goals after high school.

Kansas City Schools Serve Unique Students

Every city in every state in this nation has a homeless population. These are people who are down on their luck. They may have suffered a series of financial disasters and have been driven from their homes because they simply couldnt pay the bills. They may suffer from a mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or clinical depression and are unable to care for themselves financially, as well as physically. It is beyond them to provide themselves with adequate food or shelter. Sadly, many families suffer the first fate mounting bills force them out of their homes. Many live in their cars, but still more have to depend on charitable organizations to help them meet the needs of their families. Sometimes, the judicial system gets involved, and families are split up; kids are placed in foster care in the hopes that they will get the care they need.

Atlanta Schools Offer Vouchers To Special Needs Students

Parents of special needs students in the Atlanta Schools rejoiced this past week when Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed into law the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship bill. Formerly known as Senate Bill 10, the proposed voucher plan has been watched closely by parents and educators in Atlanta Schools. The law will use state funds to offer vouchers to parents of children with special needs in order to provide them with more appropriate school options. Atlanta Schools teacher, and parent of a child with autism, Linda Bryant Butler expressed her pleasure in a recent article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, parents like me are ecstatic that we will now have a choice. If one school doesnt work for Xavier during his 12-year academic career, I know he wont be trapped. He will have the choice to seek a better education elsewhere, she said.

Salt Lake City Schools Look At Costs Of Undocumented Students

If you want to stir up a frenzy of controversy, just ask families in Salt Lake City Schools what they think about educating the children of illegal immigrants. The answers will be diverse and impassioned. Based on numbers provided by the Utah Office of Education state schools, including Salt Lake City Schools, spend about 5,140 annually per pupil. A recent audit titled A Review of the Public Education Costs of Undocumented Children recently threw some fuel into the fire. The audit, performed by the Utah Office Legislative Auditor General, reports that the state spends over 63 million annually on undocumented students. Residents and state representatives of Salt Lake City Schools are engaged in a heated dialogue regarding the accuracy of that number. The study claims that educating a Salt Lake City Schools students who is undocumented costs 100-400 more annually due to the need for special language and low-income programs. This matter is of special interest to the Salt Lake City Schools because administrators have been trying to use available funds to meet rising standards in cost-efficient and effective ways. A look at the recent initiatives in Salt Lake City Schools reveals numerous efforts like vouchers, school choice and charter schools in the citys attempt to improve education. Many representatives of Salt Lake City Schools interpret the audit to show that educating undocumented students comes at the detriment of the rest of the population.

Union Trade Apprenticeships For Philadelphia Schools Students

The Philadelphia schools, along with other schools across the nation, are concerned with students who do not enter college upon graduation. Many are left with low-paying, dead-end jobs with little prospects for future improvements keeping many of those students from impoverished homes in the low-income lifestyle. This has been of concern also for James Nevels, chairman of the state-appointed School Reform Commission that is responsible for overseeing city schools within the state, including the Philadelphia schools. Nevels believes students have been historically underrepresented in the local trade unions, and believes it is time to change that status quo.

One type that I really like to study is successful students that I can learn better studying techniques from. Lucky for me, being based in Oxford I have no shortage of students to study. Here are some tips that I have picked up over time. I hope that they will help you if you are studying at the moment. 1. Location, location, location... Find a place to study that wont sap your concentration. For instance sitting in a bar with interesting people might not be the best place for you; however a nice quiet park or even a room at home could be your best bet!

College Plans Begin For Many Students In Their Sophomore Year In The Dallas Schools

For many students in the Dallas schools, the start of their sophomore year means looking at their future plans. The Highland Park High School within the Dallas schools system, for example, began mandatory counseling sessions for all sophomores this year. Though only a few students within the Dallas schools are required to attend such guidance sessions, University High School in Irvine has had these mandatory sessions for nearly 30 years. Many school districts in California require college guidance counseling for high school sophomores, while some districts in Wisconsin require sessions during the freshmen year. Today, college admissions are highly competitive. They look at everything from the applicants freshmen through senior years, believing that everything an applicant has become and has the potential to be is built upon their enculturation during these years. It is all foundational. With such fierce competition for college entrance, todays high school student cannot rely upon chance but must be prepared by the time they graduate from the Dallas schools. Students must have done things during high school one step better than the other college applicants, if they wish to be admitted.

Most parents assume that their children are getting an equitable education, regardless of where they attend school or in what district. However, Chicago schools may differ in educational opportunities, depending upon several factors the most prominent being the percentage of low-income students and the quality of property values within the different districts. With many of the Chicago schools providing education to low-income students, these factors impact the quality of education your children may receive. Lets look at Chicago schools General George Patton School District 133. Its low-income students comprise 97 percent of the overall students educated within the district.
